When Ford unveiled its Atlas concept at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, auto fans collectively gasped in genuine surprise. We didn’t cover the show this year, so we jumped at the chance to check out the Atlas when it rolled out at the local Cars and Coffee meet. Our first impression of the concept was that it’s wide.

With the company just posting its highest quarterly sales total ever for hybrids and EVs, Ford recently received more excellent news from the fuel-efficiency department: The EPA has now rated the 2013 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid the most fuel-efficient sedan in America, with marks of 108 MPGe city/92 MPGe highway/100 MPGe combined – even EVs like the much more expensive Tesla Model S currently top out at 95 MPGe combined. Of course, it’s also worth pointing out the Toyota Prius Plug-in, a smaller hatchback, is limited to 95 MPGe combined as well
