High Demand Brings Jobs, Investments for 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty

The light-duty F-150 may be the MVP of the Ford truck roster, but there also are plenty of fan favorites on the heavy-duty side of the ball, and that popularity is paying off for the folks who build the 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty. That’s because the Blue Oval’s Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville will welcome 350 jobs and an $80 million investment to build more models of the F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550. “Customer demand for F-Series Super Duty trucks is growing substantially, and F-Series overall is America’s best-selling truck for 37 years running,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas.

The 2013 SEMA Show recently closed its doors in Las Vegas, but not before Ford announced that its 6.2-liter V-8 engine—which powers trucks like the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor—would take “off-roading” in a brand-new direction. “Ford is pleased to be working with Indmar Marine as it plans to re-enter the marine market,” said Jamy Hall, president and CEO for Ford Component Sales. “Ford has a long history of bringing power to the marine industry and views this effort as a strategic opportunity for the company.” In the 2014 Ford F-150 and F-Series Super Duty rosters, that engine relies on technologies like dual-equal variable valve timing to deliver 411 horsepower  and 434 lb.-ft
